There are stories of little girls who wear mehndi (henna) to cover their fingertips bruised from peeling shrimps, of 8-year-old boys who cannot stay awake in class after working 12-hour night shifts at factories, and many others.

Despite these dire circumstances, there’s hope from the teachers and principals – the true heroes of TCF – as they value ‘their’ children’s successes. Education is the ANSWER! It is our best chance at addressing the many pressing problems that face Pakistan.

Each morning, before the break of dawn, Zainab wakes up to her mother’s voice, “Wake up and hurry my girl, it’s time to go and pick.”

Zainab, a student at TCF's Keti Bander Campus in Sindh, goes out to the fields every morning before school -- yanking chilies from their plants and dropping them into a cloth tied around her waist. But as morning breaks, she runs back to get dressed for school –an oasis for learning where she is free to learn, play, explore and discover.

Zainab has her eyes set on the stars and is already well on her way to achieving her dreams, but there are countless children just like her, working in homes, fields or factories instead of being at school. Your support can help Zainab and other talented children like her reach their full potential.

Meet Javaria Yousaf, one of TCF’s extraordinary alumni determined to enlighten and empower her community in Minhala by returning to teach at the school she graduated from. Passionate about Mathematics, Javaria brings the magic of numbers to her classroom at TCF’s Shirin Sultan Dossa Campus-3 in Minhala, 20 km away from Lahore. When asked what keeps her so motivated every day, she confides: ‘The change happening around me because of education is so evident. Although it hasn’t been long since I was a student in these same classrooms, girls I teach today are much more confident and participate actively. I watch them grow and develop every day. What more do I want for motivation?’ Our teachers plant the seeds in our education that build our foundation, and without them we wouldn’t be anywhere. We are so thankful to be supporting such a great cause, one that gives the underprivileged children of Pakistan quality teachers like Javaria Yousaf, but more importantly, a quality education. #TeachersAppreciationWeek

Pakistan
Tea is a common drink and a courtesy extended to guests across Pakistan. An element of Kashmiri culture, Noon Chai is a special blend of tea that includes a mix of pistachios, almonds, salt, milk, and spices like cardamom, cinnamon, and star anise. It's easy to pick out because of its signature pink color, which can be enhanced with a bit of baking soda. Served on special occasions, Noon Chai is typically enjoyed with pastries like sheermaal, kandir tchot, bakarkhani, and kulcha. More casually enjoyed is "Doodh Pati," or milk tea, which involves no water.

Russia
The tea traditions of Russia were forged in its leaner days, where food and drinks needed to be stretched to serve as many as possible. From these shortages came zavarka, a loose-leaf tea concentrate brewed in a small metal container called a samovar. In this vessel, a very strong (usually black) tea is brewed and then served in large mugs. However, you wouldn't dare fill the mug. Instead, guests take an inch or less of this powerful concoction that they then tame with boiling water as desired. Russians typically drink it black, but hosts will offer milk and sugar, as well as an accompanying snack. Serving zavarka without cookies, crackers or some other munchable is to serve it "naked" and is considered wildly rude.
